MONOGRAFIA: Pedagogia per a una memòria democràtica
Mª del Carmen Agulló Díaz
Abstract
Franco's dictatorship continued for four decades by means of a series of systematic repressive practices of violation of human rights implemented by the State over the entire population, of which teachers were a part. Unawareness of these practices, fruit of the pact of silence of the transition, has had repercussions for the defective education of the citizenry. However, in order to build a genuinely democratic regime, education in the pedagogy of memory is necessary from childhood, and it is teachers who are responsible for providing this. It is therefore im-portant to introduce this subject into teacher training studies. We present a pedagogical pro-posal aimed at training teachers, based on the recovery of the stories of the eleven Valencian teachers who were executed and buried in mass graves, a profound reminder of the dictator-ship's persecution of educators who were committed to social transformation.
