Editorial policyCollection: SINGULARITATS
The collection Singularitats, which was created with the wish to publicize the results of the lines of study and the research projects carried out by GRACMON, the University of Barcelona’s Art History and Contemporary Design Research Group, these days presents a broad spectrum of research carried out by the different national and international specialists who contribute to it.
Different disciplines associated with the artistic movements in the second half of the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century, such as Art History and Theory, Visual and Cultural Studies, the History and Visual Representation of Cities, and Design History and Theory, converge in a consolidated editorial line of acknowledged prestige, which has been built up thanks to the work done by an academic team made up of established researchers, PhD students and collaborators.
Modernism, Noucentisme, the history of design in Catalonia and the cultural studies of the arts in Barcelona, as well as the cross-border nature of the cultural landscapes of modernity, are the thematic axes that collectively build this collection of research that has been recognized with the Sello de Calidad en Edición Académica, guaranteed by Agencia de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (ANECA) and Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT).

Selection process for originals
Originals are evaluated by in-house and external experts at the University of Barcelona in accordance with double-blind peer reviewing, in order to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers. Once the selection has been made, whether the work has been accepted or rejected, the author will receive a reasoned reply from the editor of the collection pointing out, if necessary, the possibility of rewriting or reworking the original submitted in order to introduce the changes or remarks sent to him, and also the necessity to adapt the text to the collection’s editorial criteria, and specifying whether the changes are obligatory or optional. Where appropriate, the author may re-submit the original, which will be assessed again.
In the event of the work being accepted, the publisher will contact the author to formalize the publishing contract and, once it has been scheduled with the editors of the collection, inform him/her/them of the planned publication date.
Process of publishing originals
Once the original has been accepted and the author has been notified of the decision, the publishing house sets in motion the process of editing and producing the work, of which a copy editor takes charge in coordination with the editors of the collection and the author. The editor informs authors of the different stages that will be followed, as well as the execution times, so that they can plan the revisions that will have to be made by them.
Copyright warning
Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona works with copyright licences and, where appropriate, with Creative Commons licences. Each case is studied with the editor of the collection and, prior to the formalization of the publishing contract, the author is informed of the most suitable licence. Self-archiving of preprint copies is permitted, subject to prior notice to collection management and the publisher. The full collection is available, with a planned embargo period of one year, as Open Access in the University of Barcelona Digital Repository and in the Directory of Open Access Books. For illustrated works, reproduction permissions are managed for all formats and media (paper and eBook).
