Editorial policyCollection: FILOSOFIA UB

Editorial policy

The Filosofia UB collection publishes works of reference in the field of philosophy with special attention to contemporary thought and, also, to the recovery and memory of necessary references through translations of relevant works from the history of thought. The collection aims to establish, on the one hand, a connection between recovery and memory and, on the other, the living actuality of philosophical reflection in the Catalan language. Accordingly, the series includes: (1) translations and critical editions of great works of thought done with rigor and respect for the original preceded by a study in which the hermeneutical and historical keys necessary for understanding are offered of the works; (2) large monographs aimed at deepening the meaning of the great questions and challenges facing philosophy; (3) short monographs that allow quick memory recall and exploration of new research territories.

Director of the collection: Josep Monserrat (Universitat de Barcelona)

Editorial board: António de Castro Caeiro (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Maria Ramon Cubells (Universitat Rovira Virgili), Joan Lluís Llinàs Begon (Universitat de les Illes Balears), , Elisabetta Cattanei (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore)

Submission of original manuscripts

Editorial proposals should be sent by e-mail to Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona (infopublicacions@ub.edu). Once they have been received, their suitability, originality and relevance will be assessed and, if appropriate, the external review process will begin.

Original manuscripts must be unpublished, they must reflect new developments in the field of philosophy, and must take into account The University of Barcelona’s code of conduct for research integrity. Written in clear and precise language, they must respect the collection’s Submission guidelines and style guide, and be accompanied by a brief description of the work and the curriculum vitae of the author(s).

Citation format

Bibliographic references must be adhered to Harvard format:

Morales-Gálvez, S. et al. 2024. Filosofia política. Una introducció. Barcelona: Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona.

Selection process

Original manuscripts are evaluated by internal and external experts at the University of Barcelona, by means of double-blind peer review to ensure the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Once the evaluation has been made the author will receive reasoned notice from collection management, whether the work has been accepted or not. A positive evaluation will indicate, where appropriate, the possibility of rewriting or reformulating the original work to introduce the changes or remarks sent to him, and also the necessity to adapt the text to the editorial criteria of the collection, specifying whether the changes are obligatory or optional. Final acceptance of a paper may be conditional on whether or not the proposed changes are made. The publisher then schedules its publication in accordance with collection management.

The publishing house will contact the author of the accepted work to formalise the corresponding publishing contract, and communicate the details of the publishing process and the expected publication date of the volume.

Editing procedure

Once an original has been accepted for publication and the decision communicated to the author, the publisher begins the editing and production of the piece, which is carried out by a desk editor in coordination with those responsible for the collection and the author. The editor informs the author(s) of the different phases of production, as well as their scheduled timeframes, so that they can plan the revisions they are to make.

Copyright notice

Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona works with copyright licences and, where appropriate, Creative Commons licences. These are considered on a case by case basis with collection management and, prior to formalising a publishing contract with an author, the most appropriate licence is communicated to the author. Self-archiving of preprint copies is permitted, subject to prior notice to collection management and the publisher. For illustrated works, reproduction permissions are managed for all formats and media (paper and eBook).

Confidentiality statement

Personal names and related information, such as e-mail addresses, as well as manuscripts submitted for evaluation, are used only for the stated purpose(s) of the collection and will not be made public or available to third parties under any circumstances.
