Editorial policyCollection: COMPÀS D’AMALGAMA
Editorial policy
Compàs d’amalgama focuses on contemporary issues and aims to contribute to current cultural debate, both in popular and academic spheres. To this end, each issue comprises a section dedicated to new ideas, developments and reflections, and another in the form of a monographic dossier, based on specific research and results.
The former section is organised in different sections (literature, art, philosophy, education, science and urban planning), each of which has an editor responsible for submitting proposals to the editorial board. The monographic dossier is coordinated by a specialist, responsible for seeking — either directly or through a call for papers — experts in the specific subject area who are deemed suitable to submit contributions that would advance knowledge in that field.

Submission of originals
Texts for publication may be submitted to Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona (infopublicacions@ub.edu), where they will be referred to the heads of publishing for evaluation, and authors will subsequently be notified of their decision.
Originals must be unpublished, reflect new contributions in the field of study, and follow The University of Barcelona’s code of conduct for research integrity. They should be written in clear and concise language, and submitted in accordance with the criteria listed in the rules for the submission of originals and the style guide.

Bibliographic references must adhere to the Harvard format:

Selection process for originals
Original manuscripts for the monographic dossier are assessed by internal and external experts on the editorial board, by double-blind peer review in order to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers. Once a selection has been made, whether the work is accepted or rejected, the author will receive a reasoned reply from the section editor pointing out, if necessary, the possibility of rewriting or reworking the original in order to incorporate any relevant changes or remarks or how to adapt the text to the required editorial criteria, specifying whether these changes would be obligatory or optional. Where appropriate the author may resubmit the original, which would then be reassessed. In the event of the work being accepted, the section editor would contact the author to inform them of the planned publication date.
Papers for some sections of the journal (Littere, Artis, Frontisteri, Levana, Afinitats, Ciutats, Pòrtic and Mirades) are subject only to internal review at the discretion of the section editors and the editorial board.
Process of publishing originals
Once an original has been accepted and the author has been notified of the decision, the publishing house sets in motion the process of editing and producing the work, with a copy editor taking charge in coordination with the publication directors.
