Editorial policyCollection: COL·LECCIÓ CANVI GLOBAL

Editorial policy

The Col·lecció Canvi Global collection was created to offer tools for interpreting the complex reality of today’s world, characterized by the speed of human transformations and their growing impacts on the Earth system. Additionally, it aims to disseminate texts focused on the analysis of the various manifestations and challenges linked to global change. The collection aims at a wide range of audiences interested in reflecting on all the processes that are modifying the planet and the daily lives of human beings.

Global change encompasses a range of interrelated issues and, due to this, has been analysed from various perspectives and disciplines of the social and natural sciences, such as geography, geology, biology, sociology, anthropology, economics and political science.

The collection will include works presenting a cross-sectional view of change at different time scales and some developing a regional or global analysis of some of its realities. It will also publish books that analyse the mitigation and adaptation measures necessary to deal with the negative effects of global change.

Selection process for originals

The editorial process will begin with a publication proposal that explains its main contributions to scientific knowledge, the structure of the chapters and the development schedule. Acceptance of the proposal will not imply publication of the work.

Originals are evaluated by in-house and external experts at the University of Barcelona in accordance with double-blind peer reviewing, in order to ensure the anonymity of authors and reviewers. Once the selection has been made, whether the work has been accepted or rejected, the author will receive a reasoned reply from the editor of the collection pointing out, if necessary, the possibility of rewriting or reworking the original submitted in order to introduce the changes or remarks sent to him, and also the necessity to adapt the text to the collection’s editorial criteria, and specifying whether the changes are obligatory or optional. Where appropriate, the author may re-submit the original, which will be assessed again.

In the event of the work being accepted, the publisher will contact the author to formalize the publishing contract and inform him of the planned publication date.

Process of publishing originals

Once the original has been accepted and the author has been notified of the decision, the publishing house sets in motion the process of editing and producing the work, of which a copy editor takes charge in coordination with the editors of the collection and the author. The editor informs authors of the different stages that will be followed, as well as the execution times, so that they can plan the revisions that will have to be made by them.
