MONOGRAFIA: Pedagogia per a una memòria democràtica
Isabel Carrillo Flores
Abstract
In countries that have made the transition to democracy, memory is projected as good and a value of a fair society. This is a finding of the study of reports by the United Nations Special Rap-porteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition. The guidelines, together with other contributions on memory, offer criteria for thinking about pedagogy, memory and democracy in a related way. The article is structured in three sections. The first is an introduction, and presents the debate on memory and the tensions it raises. It defends fair memory, as opposed to forgetting, denial or historical distortion. The second re-flects on the value of memory as a common good and a human right linked to truth. In the third and final section, memory is projected as a value of democracy and the principles for a critical pedagogy of memory are defined, attentive to the recommendations on memory policies and the meanings of transitional justice.
