Abstract
This paper has two objectives. The first is to demonstrate that education and philosophy are linked in such a way that philosophical activity involves a proposal for a way of life, and consequently also a proposal for education. The second is to evaluate the current relevance of Montaigne's and Descartes's proposals. Finally, we conclude by comparing the two proposals for education associated with the philosophies of Montaigne and Descartes.
