Abstract
This paper presents an experimental research study that describes which phonic aspects are the most relevant for enhancing the quality of reciting a poem. It is based on the reading of five poems, by their writers (Maria Cabrera, Enric Casasses, Meritxell Cucurella-Jorba, Pau Riba and Joana Raspall) with characteristic and unique performances. With the use of analysis and voice synthesis software, the study analyses the basic intonation traits, the rhythm type, the position and length of breaks, and changes in intensity and speed. The results we have obtained offer us objective tools that can help us improve the practice of reading and reciting poems in Catalan at different educational levels.
