Abstract
The concept and practice of continuing education has become a mechanism for containment and/or control in the various institutional contexts in which it is used. It is essential to restore its value for liberation and empowerment, among other factors. It should be associated and combined with the social practices of liberty that are found in the various regional and organi-zational areas of human life. The value of self-education and self-guidance processes should be reappraised, both together and alone.
