Abstract
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are prevalent among the population and widely distributed, without a defined profile, and the appearance of resistances make it difficult to treat these pathologies. In relation, three research projects were carried out at the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Unit of the Microbiological Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. The first two projects dealt with Mycoplasma genitalium (M. genitalium) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (N. gonorrhoeae), and their resistance to azithromycin and ciprofloxacin, respectively. The third project looked into an alternative to the diagnostic process for vaginal infections. The method consisted of using three new kits that could be implemented within the hospital routine.
